Double Chocolate Orange Brownies


PREP15 Mins.  BAKE:  30 Mins. + Cooling

Ingredients:
3/4 cup butter (cubed)
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate (chopped) - or 1 cube
3 eggs
2 cups of sugar
1 teaspoon orange extract
1 cup whole wheat flour (can substitute all-purpose)
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (6 ounces)
Confectioners' sugar (enough to sprinkle after baking)

Over Items Needed:
Greased 13-in. x 9-in. Baking Dish
Wire Rack (not necessary, but helps!)

BAKING TIME

  • In a microwave, MELT the butter & chocolate.
  • STIR until smooth.
  • COOL slightly.
 
  
  • In a large bowl, BEAT the eggs and sugar.
  • STIR in the chocolate mixture.
  • BEAT in the extract.
  • Gradually, add flour to the chocolate mixture.
  • POUR into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish.
  • SPRINKLE with the chocolate chips.
  • BAKE at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. (Make sure you do NOT overbake!)
  • COOL completely on a wire rack.
  • Cut into squares.
  • Just before serving, SPRINKLE brownies with confectioners' sugar.
