Pecan Puffs


PREP:  30 Minutes  BAKE:  10 Minutes


INGREDIENTS:
1 sheet Frozen Puff Pastry - thawed
1 Egg
1 tablespoon Water
1 tablespoon Poppy Seeds
1 package Neufchatel Cheese - softened
2 tablespoons Sherry
1/4 cup finely chopped Pecans
1 finely chopped Green Onion

Other Items Needed:
Baking Sheets
Whisk (optional)
Kitchen Brush
Small Bowl

Unique & Delicious Appetizer


  • PREHEAT oven to 400 Degrees.
  • UNFOLD the Puff Pastry.
  • CUT into 1-inch squares.
  • PLACE on baking sheets.

  • WHISK the Egg & Water. 
  • BRUSH over squares.
  • SPRINKLE with Poppy Seeds.

  • BAKE for 8-10 minutes OR until golden brown.
 
  • In a small bowl, COMBINE the Neufchatel Cheese & Sherry.
  • STIR in Pecans & Green Onion.
  • SPLIT each Pastry Square horizontally.
  • SPREAD with 3/4 teaspoon of Cheese Mixture.
  • REPLACE tops.

MAKES:  Roughly 80 Appetizers  
 
 
 
* Add 1/2 teaspoon Liquid Smoke to the Neufchatel Cheese Mixture to make Smoky Pecan Puffs.  You can find this in the condiment section of most grocery stores.  If you love a smoky flavor, this is the way to go!
